Calling out “Make a Difference, Change Lives”, Sabancı Foundation Changemakers Program continues to make the stories of people who contribute to the social development visible and to work to raise awareness, in the days of Coronavirus pandemic. For this purpose, as the Turkey’s Changemakers team, we attended the “Community Service Practices” course organized by Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Education, in order to explain the importance of volunteering to students, and to raise awareness about the needs of the society. Various non-governmental organizations representatives are being invited to the course, which aims to guide students to have volunteering experience. In the lesson we attended, we introduced the Turkey’s Changemakers Program and shared the “Don’t Throw It Away! Get It Repaired, Let It Be A Hope for Children” project, which is one of our 10^th Season Changemakers.  

Muammer Kavazoğlu, who has initiated the project “Don’t Throw It Away! Get It Repaired, Let It Be A Hope for Children”, repairs broken, faulty, malfunctioning toys and delivers them to those in need. Toys that evoke violence such as plastic guns are not sent to children even if they function. Rather, parts of these kind of toys are used to repair other ones. The project, in which more than 6,000 toys are repaired and brought to children, continues to make a difference both as an example for the civil society and with the smile that has been created on the faces of children.
