Tazelenme Üniversitesi (Refreshment University) was founded by Prof. Dr. İsmail Tufan, under the roof of Akdeniz University in 2016. The aim of the project is to transform the perception towards elderly population which is gradually increasing in Turkey and to create a new unique university model for elderly students.

Students of Refreshment University take classes on different areas, health being in the first place, archeology, sociology, economy, fine arts, etc. The syllabus also includes compulsory lessons such as repair and mechanics for women, cooking and knitting for men. All educators under the roof of the university teach voluntarily.

The project, first initiated in Akdeniz University, was later implemented in Nişantaşı, Alanya Hamdullah Emin Paşa ve Ege Universities. To date, almost 5 thousand students participated in the program.

Refreshment University was founded by Prof. Dr. İsmail Tufan with the aim of contributing to a better life of people over 60 years old in Turkey. He created an innovative model for elderly people and created a huge difference in the life of students of the university.
