A new generation library was founded in Adana to reanimate the libraries which are considered as outdated and to create an alternative social living space. It is called Midnight Library.
Midnight Library provides service to readers not only during daytime but also at night. Almost 65,000 readers per year have visited the two branches of the Library since 2015.
Contrary to traditional libraries, it is permitted to make noise in the Midnight Library to support interaction between readers. Most of the readers become a volunteer of the Library and undertake projects for social good. The Library hosts several activities such as training, concert, poetry reading and panel that are shaped by the suggestions of readers.
Midnight Library was founded by Cemil Sobacı with the dream of an innovative library open to reader's participation. It provided an alternative meeting space which is open to interaction, new opinions and solidarity. It created a huge difference both in the world of librarianship and the life of thousands of readers.
